Bad TARGET. Shame on you Target!!

John Abel's Baptism OOTD

 My son was baptized Sunday.
He is a year and three months old.
Needless to say this was something that was well overdue for our family.
Coordinating was a little difficult. My son's godparents live in a different city. It was worth the wait however.
Here are a few pictures from the event:

After his baptism at church we went to a restaurant where Hubby and I hosted dinner.

This would be the cake that hubby and I ordered.
NOTE the misspelling of "Baptism," and my son is "John Abel III" gotta love it when the cake is wrong.

My son's godmother is very talented in the party planning department. She provided the favors above - bottled water with labels on them of my son's name. Holy water and Jordan almonds with a concealed dollar coin in them to commemorate the event.

My grandma Alice. She is our rock.

My daddy. My son. My Grandma.

Grandma Alice will be 90 years old in October. LOVE this woman so much!!

OOTD - Fuschia & Green Color Blocking Outfit

I love the way that Kelly green and a bright pink work together. This is a color pattern that i gravitate towards. My daughter's nursery was done in these two colors courtesy of my mom. The colors always look fresh and clean and happy. I feel happy today.

We (my family) made it through the week. Last week was horrendous and STRESS was the word of the week. This week it feels like we were putting pieces back together a little and some things have calmed down now. I can not go into details regarding the majority of the stress and my hubby, all I can say is that it is not personal and does not involve our family life. (We are fine.)

On a personal level, the stress of my daughter starting school, loving it and then suddenly hating it three days in was torrential. I feel so guilty leaving my little girl.
Essentially walking away from her in the midst of a meltdown when all I have done for the past four years is run to comfort her is heart wrenching.
I am grateful however that we choose school's wisely and everyday there are a dozen people who greet her and tell her how well she is doing and I know that I am leaving her in the hands of some very caring, very capable people.

This morning she walked herself into assembly and planted herself in her class line and waved bye to me.
I felt excited and could not help but stand there watching her for a little while. I caught a glimpse of my happy smiley, very self confident four year old. It took everything I had to walk away even though I knew she was not crying for once. When she cries I have to high tail it out of there to resist the urge to comfort.

Two steps forward, one step back right.

Blouse- Old Navy, Belt - Target, Shorts - Express, Flats - Target, Handbag - Shoe Dazzle, Necklace - ChicbyMichelle (esty), Necklace - Stella & Dot, Bangles - Forever21, Bracelets - http://mrsheek.com

Totally loving these flats!!!
If I had known of the torrential downpours today I would not have worn them.
They are holding up well though.

Color & Pattern Mixing:

I made it all the way to work and then I realized my fly was down.
LOL, I made a video this morning, dropped my daughter off at school where I walk her in, pumped gas and got coffee all with my fly down. Good times.

OOTD - Simple Black & White

HOT.
This is about the time of the year when I start complaining. It's so freakin' hot here that it drives me nuts. I find myself dressing more for the heat than for myself or for style. Everyone knows that I dress for me. I have found that pairing simple basic pieces with some stylish accessories usually does the trick. Aviator sunglasses never fail in the coolness factor department, neither does a great handbag. I love this one. It is my Celine wanna-be bag for right now. I am really really loving it.

I know all my pictures are from the security of the interior of my home. I am building up the courage to take my tripod outside to take pictures. Building up the COURAGE!!

As you can see the hair is getting longer. I tell myself that I am growing it out and then the back gets to this point where it looks all unkempt and it drives me nuts.

So I had it trimmed yesterday.

Ah!!!

Essie's Fall Collection - Stylenomics

Here they are...

Gorgeous rich shades for Fall 2012.
Now it is NO secret that I am an Essie fanatic.
Here are the shades in the collection.

Pictures and description's have been borrowed from Essie's web page.

Don't Sweater It
"a warm, cozy and creamy mauve"

Skirting the Issue

"an exquisite, fashionable burgundy wine"

Recessionista
"a smart, intelligent and savvy brick red"

Miss Fancy Pants
 "a refined, chic, greige"

Head Mistress
"a bold, in charge, and direct red"

Stylenomics
"a wealthy, rich and opulent dark green"

So pretty!! Which ones will I be on the hunt for. Well, I am still trying to locate the Essie Collection I posted about two weeks ago - the Yogaga one. As for this one -  Don't Sweater It and Miss Fancy pants are definites for me. I love a mauvey pink and a greige. I do not care for brick browny reds so I will skip the Recessionista one and Head Mistress is too much like stuff I already have. I am intrigued by Stylenomics though. The dark green color just looks so rich and wealthy as it is described. Kind of like a well-bred horse. Skirting the Issue also catches my attention since it's the rich wine shade that always always always makes an appearance in fall. Wine does for fall what White does for summer.

What shades are on your list?

OOTD - Mint & Navy Polka Dots

If I had to pick some things that I have worn over and over this summer. This mint blouse and these polka dot shorts would be it. I just love them. I have worn them separately so much already.

A closer look at the shorts.

Here is a behind the scenes of The Style Chronicles:
This is usually how it goes.
Eventually after several rounds of pictures I get one or two by myself that are good.

Makeup:

This is a look that I have worn multiple times also. So if I had to pick a summer makeup look. This would be it. I have worn it mostly to dress up for dinner or a night out, but today I actually wore it during the day and loved it all the same.

OOTD - Stripes & Leopard Vloggy Vlog

My hunt for this specific striped shirt is OVER!!
Thanks to my very special friend Jan from  https://www.youtube.com/couturemomnyc .

I searched for this combination for a while and could find large black stripes everywhere, or stripes that were the same size. I wanted a shirt with more white and less black. I feel that it balances out the stripe action. With more black your shirt appears darker and with more white lighter, and fresher. Stripes that are the same size make me go a little crazy, is my mind seeing more white or more black? I feel like the stripes are competing for my brains recognition. Yes, I know that might be a little overboard, and I might be a little too specific about some things, but regardless THIS is what I was looking for.

Rockstar Jeggings - Old Navy
Leopard Belt & Pearce Pumps from Target
Black & White Perfectly Striped Tee c/o  Jan
Heart Necklace (on loan from Eva) from Charlotte Russe
Gold Bangles
MAC Pink Nouveau Lipstick

OOTD - Orange Mint & The Target Sweater

I love the pattern of these shorts. The little sail boats make me so happy. They are just cute. I am really considering making it a rule that I incorporate more pattern in my wardrobe. Cute patterns like this. Kitschy almost. I also really do like the coolness that this mint color blouse has brought into my closet. It goes with everything and every color!! Literally. Plus it is so refreshing to wear like walking around in a stick of mint gum or something. I feel like I should smell like peppermint. LOL!!

A closer look at the pattern:
I am also very happy that I purchased the little belt in nude. I like to belt things when I wear my shirt tucked in and have struggled with what kind of belt. I had the typical black and brown skinny belts, but those draw a lot of attention to the waistline and I really just wanted something transitional. I think a nude belt like this does that nicely. Same concept as nude shoes. They are there, but not really. Inconspicuous anyone?
